Cost of Living

Cost of Living

The pressure of increasing costs is having an impact on the local community, increasing bills including vehicle registration, state government fees, taxes, levies, power, gas, water and essential services costs are hurting people right across the electorate.

Government has done very little to ease the burden, and many elderly residents and families are doing it tough. Many in the community are struggling with continually increasing cost of living, including the elderly, low income families and parents with disabled children. This has been highlighted by the increases to welfare support services and complaints to the ombudsman.

Oscar will campaign to assist people struggling with cost of living pressures including campaigning for genuine rebates and concessions to assist those in hardship.

He will fight for lower registration fees, levies and state taxes, particularly now that the state has had massive stamp duty windfalls. He will also campaign for public transport to be made free to pensioners and cheaper for all Victorian students and those on low incomes.
